It was another hot, sunny day for Rushden’s Party in the Park on Saturday 11 July 2026. It was well supported and in the museum we were entertained all afternoon with music from the Walled Garden. It sounded like everyone was having a good time.
We had a steady stream of visitors all afternoon with the final count being just over 200. For most of the time we were a very small team of two, with one outside and one inside, but we had extra help for setting up and by the middle of the afternoon we were four. We put the gazebo up to give us some shade outside and we need four to deal with that. We don’t use it very often so we always end up scratching our heads and puzzling how to do it.
We raised a bit of money by selling a few books, but one of the activities we had planned had to be abandoned because as there were only two of us, we wouldn’t have been able to cope with it. It will keep for another time. We had a few quiet spells so some children were able to do the quiz.
Well done to Rushden Town Council. The next big event will be the Classic Car Show on 2 August 2026. We look forward to having a lot of visitors on that day.
