The routine work has continued during October, more cataloguing and sorting during our Thursday work days. We had a committee meeting on 16 October during which ideas were discussed for next year’s exhibition. Our student and his work coach joined us for some of the meeting as observers. During his time with us our student has taken photographs, photographed and catalogued an item, researched and added items to the touch screen, and is now working on an article which will go on our website. He has had two weeks off for the half-term holiday and will return on November 6. He seems to be doing really well and is enjoying the work.

Cataloguing the material bequeathed to us has continued, and a couple of items donated to us during October have been dealt with and packed away. We have also been throwing ideas round as to how we can reorganise the storeroom/office. Unfortunately, no matter what we do we can’t make it any bigger, and we are very short of storage space.

This year’s exhibition, which has been very successful, ended on the 26 October, so our next job will be to pack everything away. Most of that will fall to Will and Libby Osborne. It has been a good season, with the busiest day being the Classic Car Show in August when we had over 750 visitors. We have had several group visits, and although we haven’t been out giving talks during the time the museum has been open, we have one planned for November.
