· Remington was originally an arms company founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington II, who believed he could build a better gun than he could buy.
· Remington designed and built a flintlock rifle for himself
· By 1828 , he moved his operation to nearby Ilion
· The Remington family sold the ownership of E. Remington & Sons to new owners in 1888, and the company formally changed its name to the Remington Arms Company.
· The Remington Rand, which later spun off from the typewriter business, also produced electric razors, starting in 1937 with the Remington Model E.
