·         Message – Dear Leslie, How are you getting on.  You do not write much. Love from All, Dad.

 

·         Notes – Leslie Arthur Wills was the son of Frank Ernest and Mary Wills and was born in 1911.  Frank Wills kept the beerhouse in Alfred Street, Rushden.  Leslie was brother to Horace and Don Wills.  In 1934 he married Ada Houghton, and in the 1939 register he is recorded as being a Radio Service Engineer.

 

·         The Rose and Crown (originally the Bricklayers’ Arms) was in Yew Tree Lane, Spratton.  The Rose and Crown was owned first by Hipwells and then by Phipps, closing in 1922.
