The highlight for August must be the Classic Car Show in the Hall Park on Sunday 4 August. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and we were very busy at the museum with well over 600 visitors. Other weekends in August have been fairly quiet, but then August is the holiday month.
On the 12 August one of our committee members had his 90th birthday, so the following Thursday we helped him to celebrate with a birthday cake.

Donations
During the month we have received a large, framed photo of the employees of the Rushden Heel Company Ltd. on their annual outing to Clacton in June 1930, and a collection of 20 books by H. E. Bates. Of these nine were hardbacks and 11 were paperbacks. These items have all been catalogued.

Workdays
Thursday is our workday when the sorting, filing and cataloguing is done. During August work has continued sorting the very large amount of material that has been bequeathed to us over the last 2 or 3 years. It has been a mammoth task. Some of it has reached the cataloguing stage, the first paperwork being deeds referring to land in Rushden one dated as early as 1754.

The most popular photo on Facebook was one of Rushden High Street in 1984. A lot of people remembered these shops.
