This year we are starting a new project to showcase our collection on a touch screen so visitors will eventually be able to see photographs of the artefacts we have in store as well as those on display. We have over 4,000 items in our collection so by the time we open on 13 May, 2023 this will still be a ‘work in progress’ but we should have enough information available by then to make it interesting and it will be added to all the time.
One of the items in our collection is the book of sermons written by Reverend Charles Drawbridge. The Sermons were originally printed on a single sheet, and sold at one penny each, or 7s per hundred.

The Reverend Charles Drawbridge
Charles Drawbridge was born in the borough of Southwark on June 15th 1805. At an early age he started preaching around London, and when he was only 21 he accepted the pastorate of the Succoth Church in Rushden. The church prospered so that it had to be enlarged again and again. In 1864 the church shown in the picture below was built and opened by the Rev. James Wells of Surrey Tabernacle.
Charles Drawbridge died in 1871 aged 66 and was buried in the old cemetery at Wellingborough.
