On Tuesday 21 February our chairman, Mr. Peter Field, gave a talk on the history of Rushden Museum to the ladies of the Park Road Baptist Church Ladies Fellowship. The talk tells the story of the museum from 2005 when the building was obtained and includes photographs of the first opening day. The exhibition in 2006 featured ‘Serve’ which was celebrating its 25th anniversary, and Rushden Amateur Operatic Society which was celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Peter explained how the museum has grown, with an extension in 2009, and how we try to work with other organisations in the town and join in local events. We usually work with the Rushden Historical Transport Museum and Rushden Library during Celebrate Rushden Week and have entered the Soap Box Derby with our WWI tank. (We didn’t win!) We have taken talks to the schools and have recently been to South End School and Newton Road School.
