It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Sarah Peacock on Monday 15 August 2022. Rushden Museum has lost a very special friend.

Sarah’s involvement with Rushden Museum arose through the sudden death of her mother, Susan Hollowell, in 2002. It was Susan who had brought together a group of people in 1999 to help establish a museum in the town.

Through Sarah’s involvement the museum was able to open it’s doors in its present premises in Rushden Hall Park in 2006. She was chairman until 2012 when she stepped down owing to other commitments, but she continued as a committee member. With her support as a committed member of the team, the museum has grown, as she often put it, ‘from a little acorn’ into an asset to the town and community.

Sarah’s positive can-do attitude, and firm and friendly manner, along with her knowledge of Rushden and its people and places, has helped the museum to develop into a valued heritage attraction, and she will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts are with Sarah’s family – husband Alan, and sons Matthew and Simon.
