We have come to the end of another financial year, so the subscription reminders have gone out to all Friends of Rushden Museum. Thank you to all who have supported us and continue to do so. The items which were on display during this year have been packed away, so for a very short time the museum looked quite empty. That soon changed and as usual we are working in total chaos.

During November we have received several photos taken round the town, and a considerable collection of Rushden postcards. These have been scanned or photographed ready for cataloguing but haven’t made it to the computer yet. A work in progress.

The last two Thursdays have been particularly cold, and this last week, to add to the fun, the fan heater stopped working. The picture rack has been emptied, cleaned of all the black grit from when the new roof was done, and all the pictures put back. They have been reorganised and entered on the computer. Several items were found that haven’t been catalogued, and they have now been catalogued and packed away. All the boxes of material bequeathed to us have been brought out of the cupboard, and some of our other boxes have been moved to use the space to the best advantage. Total chaos at the moment, goodness knows where everything is going to end up.

The most popular photos on Facebook during November were The Ritz, showing Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Duck Street as demolition had just started prior to the road widening.
The most popular photos on Instagram were High Street and one of Vic Childs’ photos showing boys fishing watched hopefully by a cat.
