We are still working on our Touch Screen project and have photographed several boxes of artefacts.  As there are well over 4,000 items in our collection we still have a long way to go, so it is very much a ‘work in progress.’

One of the items we have photographed recently is the medal below which was awarded to George Sayer in 1947.  George played in the Temperance Band and became the “All Britain Champion” playing Solo Euphonium as detailed below.

Daily Herald Contest Award

 •    This medal was won by George Sayer on the 10 October 1947 at Central Hall Westminster.

 •    George Sayer was the ‘All Britain Champion’ playing solo euphonium.

•    The medal together with a cheque for £50 was presented to George by Sir George Dyson, Director of the Royal School of Music.

•    George Sayer played for the Temperance Band
