We had such a lovely day for the opening of our 2026 exhibition “Raise a Glass to My Old China,” on Saturday 2 May 2026.  A small group of invited guests were welcomed by our chairman, Peter Field, who thanked everyone for coming and gave a short account of this year’s exhibition.   He thanked all those who had helped us, including the Northamptonshire Archaeological Resource Centre for the loan of archaeological items, the carpenter, Jez, who had framed stained glass for us and made cupboard doors, Matthew our IT man from Omnitelecom, and Rushden Town Council and the ground staff who are always willing to help with any heavy lifting.

Chairman, Peter Field, thanked everyone for coming and gave a short account of this year’s exhibition.

Our president, Will Osborne said a few words and then invited the mayor, Gill Mercer, to open the museum for this year’s season.  The mayor gave a short speech during which she thanked the museum volunteers for the help they had given her during her time as mayor by providing a tour of Rushden Hall as part of one of her fundraising events.  She then cut the ribbon and declared the museum open and wished us well for the 2026 season.

This year’s exhibition, “Raise a Glass to My Old China,” will run until the last weekend in October.  Opening times are Saturday and Sunday 2-4pm.  We will also open at any time for groups (or for just one person) by appointment.  The exhibition features glass and china objects from our collection but also includes archaeological artefacts on loan from the Northamptonshire Archaeological Resource Centre.  We are also displaying a lot of items to compliment the glass and china so there is a lot to see.  We look forward to welcoming visitors during the coming months.
